I want to share my memorial weekend adventure. First of all since I am at work right now it will be a "No Picture" post, but I will try and remember to post pictures later.
Our 3rd Annual neighborhood BBQ was held on Friday to kick off the weekend. The weather was cold and sucky. We still had an ok turn out but not like last year. One day maybe mother nature will pull it together and have nice warm weather for this awesome event. (Maybe next year)
After we cleaned up the bbq we got busy packing the car for a camping trip to Cedar Mesa. We woke up at 5:30am and dragged the kids out of bed and drove for six hours to meet up with some friends of ours. It was warm but it was windy. We ate lunch then got back in the car and took a drive to see...... well I am not sure what we really saw but we ended up in BLANDing at a new swimming pool. Kids were excited to swim since it has been raining and snowing at home. It was still windy but the kids enjoyed the pool. (We drove 6+ hours to go swimming) After we went swimming we ate a local restaurant and headed back to our camp site, started a fire and roasted marshmellows.
DAY 2 - A 1 mile hike to some ruins and getting sand blasted by the wind the rest of the day. We spent the rest of the day in our friends camper while the wind spread sand and nastiness all over the place. We drove to a place in trees where we could grill up some burgers and hot dogs away from the wind and then by the time dark came the wind died down.
So here is the question..... Which is better staying home and going skiing and watchin movies since Salt Lake got snow and rain or getting sand blasted for two days.....

Vitamin D
This will be short. Yesterday I came home from work to a nice sunny afternoon. My kids stayed outside till dinner time and I stayed inside and cleaned my kitchen and bathroom floors that were in desperate need. I was able to accomplish this task cuz my kids were outside not bugging me. YAHOO. Today will be better than yesterday. I get off at noon and it will be warmer today so once again kids outside. Love my Kids all the time but I really really love them when they are outside.

All in a Days Work
Felt the urge to write on my blog hmmmmmm something must be wrong with me. Anyway not that anyone cares but I have had a great past few days.
It all began with Friday night date night night skiing. Me, Matt, James Wood and is awesome wife and dear friend Lauri spent the evening at Brighton skiing powder and enjoying eachothers company over dinner in the lodge. I was on cloud 9. I was able to ski places that I never thought
I could with some great friends.
Saturday also involved skiing. The canyons got a huge dump of snow and grandma and grandpa Hanson offered to watch the boys while Matt and I hit up Alta. Of course everyone in Utah had the same idea but it was worth the wait in line up the canyon to enjoy the neck deep powder. It was alot of work to make those turns in bottomless powder but it was so so fun to be with Matt and be able to rip and keep up with him. We did get some video of me actually skiing the powder and not looking like a gaper. Will have to upload that footage.
Sunday also involved skiing. But this time it was my job as a ski instructor at Brighton. I was able to teach a sweet girl to over come her fears and feel comfortable making turns down the hill. Her smile really lit me up. I hope that I will have the pleasure of working with her for the next few Sundays. She really is a joy.
Monday involved um nothing but sleeping and relaxing. My body was worked and I needed a day to sleep it off. Collin was great and entertained himself for most of the day.
Tuesday involved back at work. But later that evening Evan started his second session of Ice Skating this time on Hockey Skates and he did very well. After skating Matt brought Collin over to the rec center and we let the kids swim with Rex and Callie and Aunt Heidi. (who btw kicks butt) she is always so great and I can't believe she actually went swimming with the kids while Matt and I sat like bumps on logs on the side and watch. Way to go Heidi :) It was a super fun night with the kids and I think they had fun too.
I hope the rest of my week will be as great as the past few days. Bring on Spring!!!!

My Best Skiing Day EVER!
I am a ski instructor at Brighton ski resort which is great. I really do love teaching the little wee wackers but I also get the opportunity to ski with some really great awesome skiers. Sunday I was up teaching and as luck would have it did not have a lesson in the afternoon. 4 totally awesome guys (Dennis, Paul, Mike, and Josh) invited me to hike in the backcountry of Brighton off the Great Western Chairlift. After an hour of traversing and side stepping on my right leg (it is still sore) we arrived at our destination. A super fun run of glittery powder and alot of YAHOO's. I am not a good powder skier but at that moment I did not care. It was soooooo fun! I was able to enjoy my mountains. Next they convinced to ski a hard run off Great Western that is steep and the snow was cooked and crudy but I made it out alive and improved my own skiing. It is really great getting paid to ski. For me it was like having a private ski lesson with 4 amazing instructors.
When I got home I was so excited to tell Matt about my day and was surprised that I actually skied in a place that Matt has never skied before. WOW! Now I get to take him and show him what I discoverd and how great our Backcountry is. No more groomers for me unless I am skiing with my kids. Backcountry all the way.

I need a cleaning fairy!!!!
My life seems to be more crazy then ever. We recently finished the baseball season with Evan as a Mariner and Collin as a Brave. We had fun but 3 days a week at the baseball field plus make up games due to the rainy spring we have had makes for no time to catch up on cleaning my house. I thought once baseball ended I would have time....... boy was I wrong! Evan had a baseball camp at the University of Utah and then the following week he went to Cub Country (I will blog on that later, oh Boy Scouts) Collin started up his swim lessons again and, and, and and........! This week was Girls camp so this is a break down of how my week went......
Monday (Day OFF of Work) I should have cleaned but it was my day off soooooo off to lunch with my sisters and then to the pool and then home to clean up and go have dinner at the park with Daddy.
Tuesday - Wake up to a messy house, go to work by 8:30am worked until 3pm, home to get ready to go up to girls camp. I HATE CANCER!!!!!
Let me just start by saying I am usually not to mushy so watch out......
I feel the need to write down my feelings about a sweet family that is fighting the battle of cancer for their 7 year old son. As I read their blog and the struggles they endure and the new twists and turns of this battle my heart truly aches for them. I wish there was something I could do. Why does this happen? It is amazing how quickly life can change and how real everything becomes. After hearing about this family and their sweet boy I want to run home and hug my own 7 year old son and my 4 year old son and tell them I love them. I want to try and not get so frustrated with them and try not to get mad at them as often and just be a better mom, because who knows how long I will have them and be able to hold them and play with them. My plan is to get old and go to heaven way before they do but sometimes bad things happen and that plan could totally change. I want to express my love for my kids. They really are the light of my life. They make me laugh and love life. They are the reason I am who I am and I see now my purpose for my life..... It is to be their Mom. I was never quite sure what my purpose was here on this earth but I have just had a light bulb moment. It is to BE A MOM! WOW! That is great. So I will cherish the time I have with my sons and I will continue to try and be the best mom I can be. I do not promise to be perfect but damn it, I am going to really try. I love you Evan and Collin. Thank you Matt for giving the best gift of all. I know it took some convincing on your part but now I am so thankful you did. I love my family!
If you want to read about this incredible family and the journey they are on go to their blog http://www.mysuperspence.blogspot.com/.
Also if anyone has any ideas I would love to do something for this family maybe a fundraiser or something. Let me know.
